Family Law Services
We are a one-stop shop for all of your Family Law needs.
Dissolution (aka Divorce)
It is our aim to help you part ways as peacefully as possible while ensuring fairness. In almost all cases, parting peacefully can spare the couple unnecessary financial and emotional ruin, and will be in the best interest of the children, if any.
Legal Separation
Sometimes a party wishes to separate legally instead of filing for divorce. There can be various reasons for this, such as religion, small children and/or maintaining insurance benefits. We can help you separate legally so that you can manage your assets and liabilities while still remaining married to your spouse.
Child Custody & Visitation
The "best interest" of the children is the policy of the State of California and at all times, we encourage our clients to keep this policy front and center in their minds (and hearts) while pursuing any custody litigation.
Child Support
Child support is based on a mathematical formula that includes the parents' incomes, tax status, deductions, timeshare and any hardships. We can help you calculate and obtain child support. We can also help you "defend" against child support in the sense that we can ensure the Court considers accurate factors when making any child support orders. Child support is a right of the child, and under most circumstances, mandatory.
Alimony (aka spousal support)
Depending on the length of the marriage and other factors, there can be both "temporary" and "permanent" spousal support. Temporary spousal support is designed to help the couple maintain the marital standard of living while going through the divorce process. Permanent spousal support, if granted, begins after judgment. The legal standards for temporary and permanent spousal support differ. We can help you obtain or defend against spousal support requests.
Domestic Violence Restraining Orders
Domestic violence is a serious offense and the State of California has rightfully dedicated significant resources to combating domestic violence, such as by propping up Domestic Violence Restraining Order Clinics in nearly every Family Courthouse. However, domestic violence restraining orders can also be abused to gain the upper hand in custody litigation, or to obviate receipt of spousal support. We can help you obtain a righteous domestic violence restraining order, or defend against an unrighteous one.
